GRAINER ~ MARBLER ~ DECORATIVE ARTIST RESTORATION\ CONSERVATION. Over the years my Graining, Colour Mixing and Artistic skills have become invaluable when I’ve been asked to carry out restoration work. From simple tables and doors, to Grand Staircases, below are some of the restoration jobs Ive carried out. Stripped and Restored Oak Grand Staircase. Stately home. Restored Staircase. Restored Grand Staircase. Water damaged painted & gilded ceiling. Same section, Restored. This Classic Morris Minor Traveller had extensive rot to its Ash frame. I removed all rot and varnish. I filled and made good all rot defects. I then Grained the filler to match the existing Ash. Ash Graining and varnish. Car frame fully restored. FINISH. This solid Oak door had significant holes and damage around the Lock and Side Rail. I mixed a scumble to match the wood. I combed the Scumble to match the Oak Grain exactly. I then wiped out the medullary rays (highlights) to blend in with the existing Quartered Oak patterning. Finished Oak restoration. Blended with, & indistinguishable from the real Oak. This 15th century fireplace was discovered in a Scottish Castle during renovation. I was asked to restore it. First I plastered the surround. Then I made good all cracks, breaks and defects with an Epoxy Filler. Corner break repair. I then coated and smoothed the whole fireplace, with a sandstone repair mortar, commensurate with the original sandstone. FINISH. With Hearth and Grate I also restored. FINISH.
