Testimonials

“Stewart is our first choice when it comes to anything decorative. We have appreciated his skills and advice many, many times over the past 25 years.

He excels not only in hanging wallpaper, but we have been truly amazed with his many talents in painting techniques. A couple of examples I would like to mention is a staircase which was previously French Polished Mahogany, Stewart used his skills to transform this to look like Oak, he also transformed the skirting boards in a similar way. Such was the standard of workmanship an elderly friend who is also an expert painter could not tell that it was the original staircase but commented “ my goodness what a talent this man has”

Stewart also transformed a traditional mahogany fire place into a stone effect from the wood. Again an amazing job which friends thought was a totally new fireplace.

Stewart has and would always be our first choice decorator. He was also did many house transformations for my mother and sister.

We couldn’t recommend Stewart highly enough.”

“Our family have been using the services of Stewart for 15 years.

He is without doubt whatsoever a master craftsman.

The work Stewart has carried out for us has involved extensive internal plastering and paintwork of walls, ceilings, coving, all woodwork, special colour mixing, paper hanging, wood staining and varnishing.

His workmanship is faultless, from initial job assessment and estimate provision, the work is carried in a highly efficient, organised and tidy manner, to meet any agreed programme.

His ideas on colour are excellent, last year we had him back to paint most of the house again, he suggested a change of colours in the kitchen.

Our kitchen overlooks and leads out to the rear garden, he recommended colours to match the green and blue shades we had used in the garden.

We agreed, and the results delighted us.

It seems he has brought the garden and the inside of our house together in a very pleasing way.

We recommend you speak to Stewart about “any” internal decoration you may be thinking about, he will never let you down.”

“Stewart came to us on a personal recommendation. He is one of the real, old-school craftsmen and has done three major pieces of work for us...we relied completely on his advice for colour and colour combinations in our 1920s flat in Kilmacolm. He has that professional feel for what colours harmonise with whatever the architectural period of the property in which he is working. Further, he is someone who arrives when expected, sticks to his original estimate and best of all, has a real genius for keeping disruption to the absolute minimum! Can't praise him enough!”

-Gerard, Kilmalcolm

We moved into our family home 20 years ago and Stewart has probably decorated every room in the house twice. There’s many reasons for that:- He is much more than a tradesman; he takes real pride in his craft, and offers finishes no other decorator can provide. He offers suggestions on colours and features that match the overall look and feel of the room.

He goes above and beyond to create the perfect finish, including skimming walls, plaster and cornicing, often saving money you would spend on a plasterer.

He is meticulously clean, always leaving your house as he found it. His quotes are always what you pay for- even if he has to purchase additional items or do extra work he never adds to the bill. We wouldn’t use anyone else for our home and couldn’t recommend Stewart highly enough.

As a member of The Association of Painting Craft Teachers, and current President of The Association, I have known Stewart for many years. From the very first time I met him I have been absolutely inspired by the standard of his workmanship, and the passion he has for his craft. The Graining & Marbling work Stewart produces is of the highest quality. He has a natural talent for this field of work. I know he puts many hours of preparation and practice into producing work of the highest level and the end product is always inspiring. Stewart is prepared to discuss and demonstrate his work to others, and I have had the pleasure of having been taught by him, and also observed him demonstrate his decorative techniques on numerous occasions. Each time I have been amazed at the standard of workmanship and attention to detail he is capable of producing. I often show examples of his work to learners as an example of the standards that can be achieved in our trade if they are prepared and willing to study and practice as hard as Stewart has.

I highly recommend Stewart to anyone looking for work of the highest level.

We moved to Scotland and bought a 3 story property, built in 1890. The top two floors required a considerable amount of restoration, and Stewart came on the journey with us. He was able to sand, varnish and completely restore doors, fascia and a complete hall wooden stairway, and when required woodgrain any imperfections. He painted and repaired the very ornate cornicing and metal balustrades. He was able to hang the Lincrusta wallpaper we purchased that was of that period, and applied the paint effect technique onto it that was commensurate to that style. When we completed the building works in the basement he was able to re-decorate it with a modern twist. Stewart mixed his own colours, and if we were uncertain of how colours would look on the wall, he would paint samples on different areas of the room to aid our selection.

We would thoroughly recommend Stewart to anyone looking for the highest quality traditional or specialist decorating work.
